Dead battery--->indicator lights on?

Went to start my 05 shinka today after being out of town for a week, and the battery was dead.

I jumped the car, but now my ABS, Parking break, and Traction control lights are on. I cannot turn the DSC on or off, the parking brake lever is down, and the ABS--i'm at a loss.

Service rep suggested a new battery b/c poor voltage may cause the modulators in those respective lights to goof up.

Any help would be great--I really don't want to pay a dealer to "try" a new battery that I can do myself. Any other ideas??

Well, a new battery later, and the DSC light (the car with wavy lines) is still on--now it's at Mazda with at least a $95 diagnosis.

At this point i'd be happy pulling the fuse that controls the indicator light and say to hell with the traction control. Incidentally, the fuse under the hood for the DSC is fine...

turn your steering wheel all the way left then all the way right then back to the middle...after that take it for a spin and restart the car, it should turn off

...Just read a few other search results and found the procedure that you have described. I then called Mazda and said not to touch my car, and that they can forget the $95 rip-off Diagnosis.

I also mentioned that I'm not sure what's worse--the fact that they didn't recommend/know that--or that they purposely thought they'd make a quick $95.

So much for establishing trust with the dealer:icon_no2:

its called a STEALERSHIP for a reason

:rolleyes:
called them back and he said he ran the procedure, but it didn't fix the problem. Then he told me that they hooked it up to their computer and reset the ABS and DSC modules, which cleared the light...but they won't be charging me for it.

well at least they did it for free...

Like I said--nothing like building a trusting and confident relationship with your (would be)customers
