Daylight running lights

2005 - passenger side daylight running light intermittent on/off.
Seems to be switched by the handbrake (assume a relay) ? Am I right - anyone knows the circuitry for these lights and point me in the right direction.
If I operate the handbrake rt light flashes with the click of the relay which appears to be below the handbrake itself - then eventually will come on/stay on as it should.
When it's off have checked voltage at the light and it's zero - no 12v.
Alao have to admit changing these suckers is a pain. The design of the light modules leaves a lot to be desired don't you think?

OK - got a Mazda Tech to help me out. Definitley the DRL Module - intermittent 12v output to passenger side.
I understand these guys are really expensive - also undersatnd you can replace the relays so would like to know if anyone has done this, what to buy etc

Just had same problem a few days ago.

Bulbs looked fine so swapped left to right high beam bulbs. It was ok for a day and now same problem. Each time the passenger side drl (high beam light) is intermittent and come on a flicker with the hand brake................

Researched other threads....I will buy two new H9 bulbs first and if no fix...........will do DRL module, apparently about $150 cdn...

Good luck

I've replaced the relays in several DRL modules

You need good soldering/desoldering skills to perform this repair but it can be done for about $10 in parts if you have the tools and supplies.

Two new H9 bulbs...ok for a drive but problem came back. It's intermittent and the hand brake release and application shows the passenger side lighting up a little then not. Then it works again....f ing cars.........

DRL module time too I guess....don't know if I want to do the solder thing.

DarkBrew has awesome DIY for the DRL module. You guys amaze me how you come up with these fixes. GREAT WORK!

OK - you won't be able to get the relays in Canada. That's the bad news. The good news is that you can get them from Digi Key in US 1-800-344-4539.
Quote tracking order 530367099787 (that's my TO) and they will be able to reference the parts.
Cost inc. shipping $17.11 CDN.
Also good news is that the relays are better quality. Unfortunately the larger 2 relays are larger than the OEM's, the smaller 2 are identical.
What this means is that you have to replace the larger ones out of the blue box - use velcro or glue, or just let them hang when you reinstall the module (there's a neat place just to the left of the module that will support them.
You need a desoldering tool - cheap, Part Source or Canadian Tire. Desolder all the relays and replace all of them. The board itself is just too difficult to trouble shoot so replace the lot. At first it seems that the large relays are the problem - I found it was the smaller 2.
Hope this helps.
