Crank position sensor

I have a 2004 and I flooded the .... out of it. I've tried numerous techniques to resolve it to not avail. I was told to clean the spark plugs and crank sensor and try again but I don't know exactly how ti find and remove the sensor. Can someone help me out. Before I take it to the dealer I want to make sure it's broken.

The ESS is located at the front of the engine, on the right side of the front pulley. No need to remove it to clean the pick up surface. When you cleaned the plugs, did you crank it for a few seconds to clear the fuel in the engine ?

Yes I did turn it over about three times while the plugs were out. It sputtered more after that but it wouldn't actually start. I bought new NGK plugs today. I hope that works. So with the crank positioner I just need to clean the connectors? Do I unplug it before I crank it with the plugs out?

No, you don't want to clean the connector... You want to clean the other end. The end that's closest to the Eccentric (crank) Shaft. It's a magnetic pickup that senses the tines on the ring attached to the Eccentric Shaft.

As for the flooding... It's not uncommon to go through the procedures multiple times before finding success.

Ok I'll give that a try. Now I wonder if my starter is holding up. Yet I love this car. Thanks for the help people.

If it's a manual transmission save yourself a world of grief and pull start it...it will start in about 60 feet and smoke like a b*tch.....but should start easily.

If it's an auto...back to your regular scheduled PIA ;)

If it is a manual , use 2nd or 3rd when you pull or push start it.
