Could malfuctioning SSV create chatter noise??

Could a malfunctioning SSV create chatter at higher revs 4k-5K if it is not opening correctly - ie enough - or is sticking AND create loss of power at the same time?

Sounds like a simple questions and yes I have read and posted.

What metalic part could be chattering when I get to the 4K -5K range?? Is there anything that Opens when the boost is needed? Wondering if maybe it it is trying to open and is getting stuck - or is it just the SSV that turns to provide the right mix?

thanks all.

If your 100% confident you have localized the noise to the SSV, then please ignore this comment. If not, then another possible source of chatter/clatter noise in the same rough vicinity might be worn bearings inside the alternator.
