could this be bad?

so i've spent the past two hours combing through the forum and using google but i couldn't find anything about this.

i live in the Ft bragg area and we were hit with a shitty storm/tornado yesterday. ft bragg pretty much shut down so i went off post to get food. in a 5 hour traffic jam i went from about half a tank to the gas light turning on. i ended up parking at a pump waiting for power to come back, because we lost power as well.

a few hours later all seems operational again so i put enough 2 stroke for a full tank like always. i start pumping and at 20 dollars it cuts me off. about 3/4ths way between a 1/4 and 1/2 tank. at that point the gas station shut down again.

i didn't think anything of it until i was trying to figure out why the hell my idle got so rough out of no where. its ever been smooth but never like this either.

56k miles and a rb delete pipe. coils plugs and wires were changed 5k ago.

sorry for the lengthiness of this lol. any opinions?

Stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC., home of the 82nd airborne division.

Anyway, get a compression test first, then let us know the outcome.

why the heck does the OP need a compression test??

OP, you should be alright, just fuel up asap. your injectors/ plugs may need a good cleaning. Let us know the outcome after you fuel up!!

^ +1 a compression test is not necessary

Go through a couple of premix-less tanks just 'cause. Nothing major happened but since you mention your idle was never really smooth you might want to clean your MAF\Iat sensor as well, check the motor mounts and then maybe then the usual rest.

its been two premix-less tanks of beating the shit out of the engine and its no longer constant thing, just random now. i cleaned my MAF about two months ago but i'll pull it out real quick and clean it again and check a few other things.

thanks again guys.

you need to do an engine seafoam, and you need to test your fuel injectors. They might have got a little gunked with the heavy oil load.

i think i figured it out. when i went to pull out the MAF i realized the front screw was lose and wouldn't get any tighter. good amount of wiggle on the MAF as well. i still pulled it out and cleaned it.

when i put it back in the same problem persisted. i had a buddy secure the MAF while i was in the driver seat. i did the 'brake peddle 20 times' thing..i don't know why but voice in the back of my head told me to. turned her on and after about 5 minutes of idling she seemed fine.

when he let go of it, it all went to shit again. hopefully i'll be able to sunday.

doc, i didn't think about seafoaming again but thanks for the heads up. i'll do that sunday and post back with results.

I had that issue with my MAF as well, if you pull the screw out you will notice it has the plastic threads wrapped around it. When you reinstalled your MAF last time you cleaned it you stripped it.

All I did was go find a screw that fit the hole but was a bit larger in diameter and didnt try to force it tight when screwing it back in, its worked great so far. Just make sure it isnt a whole lot bigger or you might crack something. Much easier to do than what other people suggest which is using some epoxy in the hole to make new threads.

yeah thats what i did. seafoamed her again as well and it seems like the issue has bee resolved. once again, thanks guys.
