Coolant reservoir failure

Hello guys, I have a pretty serious issue with the coolant reservoir of my car, I have had this coolant smell in my car for the past few days which I did not really paid attention to, so I drove my car to work today as usual, and again had this coolant smell so I got curious, after I arrived at the work place, I opened the hood to check on it, saw the coolant has prayed out from the up of the reservoir into the engine bay, while the radiator cap is still secured, so I immediately checked for leaks but there were none, after removed the radiator cap I found out the lip of the reservoir neck(where you put on the radiator cap and fasten it) is melted and deformed by heat, cause the coolant to pray out from a small gap. I am very much sure it has to do with Mazda's quality control of their parts, and I should not be responsible to this issue since I am not a heavy tuner(with no major modifications at all), but my warranty has expired, do you guys think should I still contact Mazda for this problem? Will that be any use at all to solve this issue? Thanks.

Mazda is responsible for their parts for the warranty period. That's set out in writing when you buy from them. Stuff happens, cars don't last forever. The tank is about a $100 part.

If you can find more instances and make it into a safety issue, you could take a run at the same process that turned the clutch pedal bracket problem into extended warranty. But that group worked long and hard. I wouldn't mind if that happened with the sunvisor problem, but when mine broke out of warranty I just paid for a new one.

If your warranty is up, your warranty is up. Just buy a new one, what's the big deal?

It doesn't hurt to call.

Call Mazda and let them know the problem. At least, it's not the engine...

Thank you all for the response and god bless, I will call Mazda for assistance in this instance.

Surely it's not a big deal, but since I am not the cause of this problem, I simply just don't want to pay for the bill, and simple as that. It has nothing to against Mazda nor you, so what's the big deal?

Whose fault is it? You bought a car that was guaranteed to last for three years. Something failed after the three years was up.

Next time buy a car with a longer warranty.

You comment does not justify a valid point of view in this case, I surely did not expect the car and the parts to last forever, that is the fact which everybody understands, but however, a well known car manufacture such as Mazda which produces some of the well known sports cars should not make mistakes like this one to have such flaw in their cars to cause troubles, at least I have not seem this problem from cars of other Japanese manufactures. There are already many design flaws around this car, for instance, the sun visor, the ebrake cable, and so on needless to say, in conclusion, it's all about responsibilities of a company, rather than anything else. You would not want to drive a car that tend to fail and eventually leads to your death, and the company representatives at your funeral, talk to your family "Hey, better luck next time." Would you?

The sole purpose of this thread was simply to ask for helps to solve the problem, and was not intended to denigrate Mazda's reputation and their company policies, or insulting any forum members in anyway, in fact, I like Mazda cars, I am planning to buy a CX-9 in the future, with extended warranty of course, but I just don't understand why are these what I considered hateful comments keep coming towards me? If you were really bothered by my thread, why would not you just ignore it anyway, because comment like yours above does more harm than good.
