Coolant puddled on passenger side footwell

After dealing with continual coolant related issues, I spent the entire weekened replacing both upper coolant hoses, one 16mm hose from the overflow tank, the water pump (strangely enought there was only one fin on the pump and that was n the verge of cracking off).

After verifying that everything was done to spec, I took the car on several short test trips of variying speeds. I found no leaks or odd smells.

Later that night, I took a trip to trenton and just as I arrived, that ominous coolant smell was back inside and it began to fog up inside of the car. I turn on the rear and front defoggers and that worsened the case as well as adding a stronger coolant smell.

Minutes later my fiance tells me that its wet by her feet and we see a puddle of coolant streaming down along with a strange gurling sound. Sounded like a leaky hose spurting fluids out.

After bypassing the heater core from the engine bay, sopping up the spilled coolant and trying to de-oderize it, I figured that something popped in relation to the heater core.

A few questions to anyone.

1. Has this happened to anyone?
2. Does the entire AC unit have to come out to be replaced?
3. How expensive would it be to have the dealer replace?

I'm not too worried as we are on the very of summer, but I will need heat come late fall.

If it's like most cars..the heater core/evaporator is a nasty re/re.

You likely will have to remove most of the dash to do it :(
