cold weather

Winter has started in the North east, it has been below freezing for the past few days when I went out to my car in the morning. While warming up the car, I noticed that occasionally the electronics would die, and then immediately come back, almost like a reset. Curious what if thats about, if anyone had noticed. This doesnt occur unless the car is stone cold.

What do you mean by the electronics would die? Your radio? That shouldn't happen

My 8's been through four New Jersey " winters", the electronics function fine. There is something wrong. I would start by checking the fuses & relay's under the hood and inside the car.

it can't be a fuse because a fuse doesn't come back when it pops. It is way to fast to be a relay or circuit. My only thinking is that it could possibly be that the increased cold slowed a circuit. and no it isnt just the radio. its the dash, the lights, everything blinks off for a second, then comes back. it has done it twice to date, with no apparent harmful side effects. the only other thing that has gone on is that my TPMS is on for a while till the tires warm up, but thats just because cold weather makes for lower pressure.

Could be a loose electrical connection. Metal contraction caused by cold temps could worsen a marginal connection. Check battery terminal connections and all ground connections.

I haven't seen an electrical problem like that in western NY winters. The suggestion about battery and ground connections sounds like a good one. Have you asked about it at a dealer or other service location?

This is very good advice, the battery ground maybe the source of your troubles.
