Clutch Slipping, need replacement

Hi all

Just bought an 05 Shinka with 36xxx. Its a 6spd manual that needs a new clutch. How hard would it be to replace myself. I have access to a car lift with all the tools etc. I need it back on the road asap being that the car is my daily driver

see this thread: How to: Clutch / trans job in under 2.5 hours.

Also, consider getting a metal throw-out bearing from Charles R. Hill. In fact, you might want to PM him to discuss which clutch he recommends for your car / use.

Is there anything you'd recomend changing/inspecting while i have the car on a lift

When you replace the clutch think of doing a 1 time investment, don't stay with the OEM pressure plate, same flywheel etc... honestly think about it, just the clutch disc is $125 the labor replacing only the clutch can cost you near $300 no more than that total $450, but think if your pressure plate, Clutch release bearing or slave cylinder fails, you have to pay your mecanic again another $300, so you ended up paying your mecanic $600 and maybe $700 in parts.

My opinion once any clutch gets bad, if still OEM go aftermarket and get a full kit, Pressure Plate, Clutch Disc, Flywheel + Counterweight and replace the release bearing must do, basicly all the above can cost you near $745 brand new + $300 mecanic labor = $1045

Or you can spend $1300 when one of the clutch components fail if you decide to dont replace or do a 1 time good investment. Of course it will depend on the way you drive also.

I was under the impression that a clutch wears faster than say a slave cylinder or pressure plate. So my plans are to upgrade just the clutch and TOB. If I am incorrect please let me know. And I plan on doing the work myself. This will be my 4th clutch install, I just havent done one on an 8
