Clutch Pedal Stays Depressed

I drive a 2004 Mazda RX8. About four months ago, the clutch pedal bracket snapped and the master slave cylinder was leaking. Took the vehicle to Mazda, Mazda stated the clutch needed to be replaced. However, the vehicle was driving fine and the clutch did not need to be replaced. I had the master slave cylinder replaced, as well as the clutch pedal. Now, the clutch pedal stays depressed if I hold the clutch pedal depressed for more than three seconds. I need to give a little tap from underneath for the clutch pedal to come up. Also, there seems to be a brake fluid leak. Any suggestions? The car still drives normal, its the clutch pedal that is giving me problems.

sounds like the master cylinder, or more likely you need to bleed air

+1 on bleeding the air. It takes some time but stay on it.

sounds like a blown seal in the clutch master cylinder. if the pedal drops to the floor and dosent return. youll need a new master cylinder or replace the seals in the one you have

I have similar:

Ok guys, today, after fitting my new clutch slave I needed to bleed the system.

Step 1 - I tired a speed bleeder, nothing coming through at the bleed nipple.
Step 2 - Tried normal bleeding technique, only to notice that the pedal does not return to the normal position but clunks violently to the floor.

Tried both steps 1 and 2 but with the outlet on the master cylinder removed.. no fluid here either.. so is the master buggered too?? And whats wrong with the pedal? As surely the master does not return it... is there a spring on it?

How do I bleed the clutch master cylinder

I’ve been having clutch pedal issues on my Rx-8 I replaced the Hard clutch line, master cylinder and the Clutch pedal. I can’t find any good videos on how ti bleed the MC or will I have to bleed the Slave cylinder?

You have to bleed the slave, and its not easy to get at it. I prefer to remove the upper intake manifold to have more room. Its much easier done with 2 ppl , have 1 inside the car slowly pump clutch hold it down , open bleeder , close bleeder , release pedal , repeat until good pressure keeping an eye on the fluid res so it doesnt ever go below min and suck in more air.

Rounded bolt

I am trying to replace my Slave cylinder and I Managed to get one of the bolts that hold it in place out. But I rounded the second one I spent 4 hours trying to get it, what should I do?

Well you have a few options , could file down the sides of the bolt to.fit a smaller sized socket on it
Or get a set.of bolt out extractors which are designed to grab rounded off threads.
Trying from underneath or up top ?
I have a small wrench that I cut in half so it has room to properly seat on there with such limited space

So I have recently replaced my Clutch pedal(the bracket snapped) but now the new clutch pedal doesn’t go far enough to fully press down the ignition lock switch. What should i do?
