Clutch Pedal Problem
My clutch pedal has been acting weird latley, My clutch pedal snapped about 8months ago and I got it welded together really nice and its still strong.
But the problem this time is everytime I press the clutch pedal in all the way sometimes it won't spring back to me. I'd have to use my toe and go behind it and push it outward so it can be in stationary position. Anyone know what can be causing this? I wanna say it's the spring but I took a look and everything seemed tobe fine. |
If your clutch slave cylinder is leaking or the bleed valve is open it will do this. Check to see if you are squirting brake fluid out anywhere back by your oil filter or near the transmission bell housing. Your clutch uses your brake fluid reservoir. If you don't see anything try bleeding your clutch fluid line. The bleeder valve is right near your oil filter.

I would start with the clutch fluid and make sure there is no air in the line.
Give it a quick bleed and see if it improves. |

When the clutch pedal is removed it can easily snap into the down position due to the geometry of the pivot and the location of the springs.
Is it possible that the weld repair to your pedal changed the geometry enough to enable this behaviour while installed? Could it be that the pedal has worked its way out from the firewall due to loose bolts? If you can borrow a pedal assembly and swap it into your car you could confirm or eliminate the pedal assembly as the source of the problem.
