Clutch Bite Point & Engagement

A couple months ago, it was starting to get really tough to shift into 1st and reverse, the engagement point was right at the floor, and the pedal wouldn't come back up 80% of the time.

Took it to a shop of a buddy of mine, and they replaced the master and slave clutch cylinder. Everything's back to normal and the clutch engagement point is back to where it felt comfortable.

Took the car to the track last weekend, and the engagement point is right at the floor again (pedal adjustment thread is at like max), and it's showing symptoms of getting tough to shift into 1st and reverse again. Pedal didn't wanna come back up once or twice.

Did the slave cylinder eat shit again?

The pedal assembly looks fine.

I went ahead and bought a SS clutch line, and will try to bleed the fluid this week.. Hope that solves it. There's no way a slave cylinder bite the dust this quickly right?

Could be air in line. But, the bleed from a SS line install will cure that as well. I recommend the SS line anyway given you (we) have 12 year old cars that are on the track.

You can test it with us at Roebling in 2 weeks......

if the hydraulics don't fix it, it might be a throwout bearing or pressure plate issue. use a good DOT-4 fluid with good bleeding to eliminate that as an issue. I used a speed bleeder on my slave cylinder to make bleeding easier / problem free.

I adjust my clutch petal freeplay using the threaded rod/nut under the dash so that it grabs as high as possible without dislodging the clutch petal up-switch (the plunger of the switch has just a little extra travel remaining before bottoming).

Good luck.
