Clinking noise at low RPM
I've recently started to hear a clinking noise at low RPMs. I can really only hear it when I accelerate from a stop and when I come to a stop. When I'm at a stop sign and then take off (not a hard acceleration, just normal) I can hear a clinking noise until about 2800-3000 rpms. After that, I don't hear anything until I come to stop.
It's not the MIAC sound as I've heard that on other cars before. This sounds more like chains that are dragging on the ground or coins rattling. But it's only at those two times. Plus, you can only hear it in the neighborhood where it's quiet. If you're at a stop light with lots of traffic and noise, it's really hard to hear. It sounds like it's coming from the front half of the car, but I can't be sure. I looked under the car for something loose, but I didn't see anything. I just changed the transmission fluid and diff fluid and that didn't make any difference. Any ideas? |
is it coming from the engine bay? Give this a listen and see if it sounds anything like that
|
No. It's much more "metallic" than that. I'll see if I can get a recording.

Okay. While you're recording try to pinpoint a little more where the noise is coming from, that will tell us alot as well

Noise while accelerating
I also notice something when I am first accelerating. It feels like when you are on the interstate and go too far over and driving on rumble strips. Not real bad. Dont know if its an alignment issue or something having to do with tires. Any input would be helpful. Just had 2 tires replaced. Still doing it.
Thank you |
Does it sound like this?
