Check Engine Light- P0455

EVAP control system leak detected-(large leak)
Probable cause
faulty fuel cap - canister faulty- purge valve solenoid faulty- damaged/leaking EVAP hose- faulty EVAP leak detection pump.

Has anyone ever had this problem before? I wanted to know which one was most common one. Also ive took it to pepboys to try to fix it but they couldn't because they said they couldn't regonize the car's computer. Told me i have to take it to the dealer but i want that to be my last choice. If anyone has any advice it would be great.

Fuel cap must likely. Common issue. Go to Autozone or NAPA and get new cap. I had same code. Replaced cap. No code since.

A little late, I just got the same code.
I tightened my fuel cap and reset the code, seemed to have cured the problem.
I will order a new cap though.

Most of the time it is just cured with the same old cap, just turn it until it clicks four or five times when putting it back on after gassing up!
If you don't know how to clear the code, then just wait for two more drive cycles and it will go away. If not................then it might be time to get a new cap.

A simple search of the code(P0455) would have brought up numerous threads and told you this.

Ok, I have the same code and I tightend my cap several times started the car a few times and drove it around and the light stays on. How likely is it the other probable causes and not a bad fuel cap? And if I brought it to my mechanic what would they really do to check the other probable causes. I'm ready to go to Autozone and see if I can get a new gas cap. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Also, if it is a "large control system leak" how bad is it driving it like that?
