Check Engine Light

My car is a 2004 with 30,000 miles on it. I bought it in September last year, drove it for 2 months and put it in storage for the winter. I drive it every once in a while to keep the battery charged. I went to drive it today and my battery was dead, I jumped it and it idled funny and my cel was on. I took it to a local auto store and they said it is misfiring. They wouldn't tell me what the code was. After it warms up it idles fine and I have no power loss but my light stays on and blinks every now and then. I've been looking around on here trying to figure out what the problem could be, here is what I know. The dealership said the plugs were changed before I bought it, I have never flooded it, don't know about the cat or coils, the exhaust smelled like eggs and smoked a lot for a few minutes. Is any of this info helpful? How do you know if a coil is bad?

The OP already mentioned he got the code read and it was a misfire.
So its either P0300, P0301, or P0302.

How many miles has it been since the spark plugs were replaced?
Could also be bad coils or ignition wires.
The "rotten egg" smell could be a bad cat.
You are covered 8yr/80K miles on that.
Misfires/incomplete ignition can cause the cat to fail.

I put about 2000 miles on it since I bought it. I am located in Wisconsin.
