Changed Coils/wires/plugs now my DSC is flashing and stays on. Lots of oil in intake

So I just changed all the coils plugs and wires, I didnt give me much trouble aside from the fact i lost a coil bolt in the engine and couldnt find it. The car runs unbelievably smooth. I was driving junk and I didnt even know it.

The coils are N3H1-18-100B-9U i believe these are the latest right?

Too bad it didnt take away all the vibrations at idle which I hoped it would cure. When the car is warm it vibrates a lot on idle but when I drive its fine. The shifter vibrates so much it would work great on women! (LOL)

Now I noticed when I went for a test spin that when i got in the car the "DSC OFF" was flashing. Now it stopped flashing but the light in the dashboard that looks like the car slipping stays on and I cant turn it on or off with the button.

Also I attached a picture of my stock intake tube. It is full of oil and I mean LOTS OF OIL. I tried to take out most of it. It worries me a lot. I do have a K&N filter but it was put in 300 miles ago. I bought the car with 50k miles and it had the stock filter. Is there a reason for so much oil in there?

What do you guys think?

Oil in the intake is norm. Less is more at wot or uhh hight rpms. Get a catch can.

DCS flashing? no prob, turn car on, turn wheel all the way to the right then all the way to the left then back to center. That should get rid of the lights. If not drive the car for a lill bit.

The shifter vibrates? sounds like you need new motor mounts.

You can do the work your self. You dont have to take it in. Unless you dont know how to change the motor mounts.

...

oil in intake is not normal, it means u overFilled it

catch can is used for catching the fume from the pan, to prevent it from gummong up the tb and ssv

anyway to op, u should drain ur oil and fill it to proper level, take ur intake apart and wipe it clean,do the same to ur tb. use maf cleaner to clean ur maf

for ur dsc, check the wires/connectors, clean the connectors with electric cleaner

yes that is the latest coil

That's just not true - I'd estimate that MOST pre 2006 '8s have oil in their intakes.

It's a design flaw that vents the crankcase into 'that tube' instead of into the intake manifold, fixed by the factory in 2006's.

Mine was particularly bad, oil in the filter and out the airbox drains, all over the fans and rad.

Don't make him feel bad for 'overfilling' it ain't the cause.......

It can be caused by overfilling. Try to put 4.5 Quart or 5+ quart into the system, you will see oil in your intake after a few hard runs.

Another cause: Pouring oil into the tube without using a long funnel. Oil ran into the tube directly.

I mean yea the Updated system (TSB, the Breather tube thing) might prevent some of this happening, but you will still get oil if you overfilled.

I have been doing my own oil change, never had a problem 4+ years, only time I had oil in intake ... cuz my 1st oil change came from stealership ...

had an oil change at dealership about a yr ago (forced me to, assholes), but then I drove slowly and drain the crap out right away. and yeah, I got 5 quarts out of the pan -_-

well i only had the car for about 2000 miles now and i topped it off twice with not even 1/4 of a quart. Maybe the previous owner did. I guess ill clean it it will give me something to do today. Is there any way to prevent it from coming back? Or is that only something the stealership can do?

As for my motor mounts, I have no clue how to do them myself and I really doubt I can pass them on the extended warranty I bought. It was only a powertrain warranty. I guess ill use a vibrating car for now, at least it gives me a massage once a day. My girlfriend doesnt.

Dont add oil for no reason. you risk of overfilling it.

Check oil only when its hot, hot means you have been running your car at least 30 minutes or so. then let it sit for around 10-15 minutes before checking its level.

the engine mounts, well, if you have access to jackstands and a jack, you can do it yourself "pretty easily"

RX8 shift knobs vibrate like hell is a normal feature.

Find some other club members. Compare their vibration.

Your motor mounts can be good.

Don't forget to clean your MAF.

You don't need a catch can. Just put a filter on the Oil resovouir tube and cap off the intake.

You don't need a catch can? why not? wont hurt anything.

Odd. I run 4 & 1/2 quarts and never had any issues with oil in my intake.
