That is the back of the faceplate, the 2 circled connectors connect to the front of the radio. I haven't taken the radio apart - do I need to do that as well?

I have tried pushing various parts of the faceplate when it stops working, but it appears to make no difference.

The plug in connectors at the back of the radio are proper push in connectors which click into place and feel fine.

Your face plate to your console separated and it's not grounding out no more. Remove the radio and inspect the screws around where the face plate of the radio attaches to it. If the holes where they screw in are cracked and there is play where the faceplate moves away from the rest of the radio that is your issue.. I pushed it right together and used super glue to hold the screw tight and it worked fine for me still and that was 2 years ago. Any questions let me know

Very bizarre thing happened today while I was driving: the majority of my centre display and console stopped working!

I noticed it first when I was looking at the display where the time, ambient temperature, and radio information usually go, and realized it was blank.

Then I noticed that most* of the buttons and toggles on the centre console and HVAC controls don't work anymore. It looks like fan speed and temperature are still doing things, and the emergency blinkers still work, but everything else doesn't: the different audio controls do nothing, the volume button/power button, I can't select different airflow types, I assume I can't turn the A/C off (it's currently on).

Interestingly, the radio IS still playing, and I can use the controls on the steering wheel to control it. Everything else is fubar.

Help!

Hey, I'm having this problem (nothing works in center console: no A/C, no radio, nothing). Rest of interior lights (spedometer, etc) work.

I'm not good with working on cars, so will take to dealership. My question: how much is fair price to fix this?? Can you guys give me some good questions to ask them to make sure I'm not getting swindled? Thx.

Similar problem, different circumstance

Im having a similar problem in my 04 6spd where my radio/ hvac controls and display arent working. I can change the heater fan speed, and eject 1 cd but nothing else and the display is totally dead. The only difference with the other threads is this happened after i let it sit in my driveway for a few weeks because its been snowing and below zero at times. The battery went dead so i jump started it and thats when i discovered this problem. Even since charging the battery still having the issue so im wondering if i fried a fuse jumping it, the battery is too junk, or another problem. Is there a module i couldve fried? I haven't taken it apart to check connectors yet because this started after sitting, but you never know, could be. Any ideas?

Centre Console Frozen

After not driving for a week centre console audio and HVAC froze. Display was still working but fan speed temp audio etc could not be changed so was stuck on 23 deg at full fan speed. Radio frequencies were also nuts like it had been set to some other country rather than Oz.. Battery and charging system was ok. Disconnected and reconnected battery and all fine. No idea what the cause was but glad it was an easy fix.
