CEL - P0610 - Help Needed!
Well I have gotten the dreaded CEL code - P0610. I was looking for any advice that could be given here.
Note: Within the last 2 weeks I replaced my spark plugs, ignition coils, and spark plug wires. Symptoms: 1) Two mornings ago on start-up the CEL came on (one of the colder mornings this Fall - 35-40 deg F) and I actually lost my ability to use my cruise (I couldnt turn it on or off??). 2) I tried resetting the CEL, but it would not clear, although I got my cruise back. 3) My gas mileage has taken a dive (dropped about 40 miles per tank during this last week). I had just cleaned my exhaust tips and they look black quicker than I had ever seen - running rich. 4) Car drives fine and sounds fine. 5) I had Advanced Auto run their scanner and they told me it was the P0610 code - Control Module Malfunction - Vehicle Options Error. Upon restart after they ran the scan the CEL went away. Which does not seem uncommon from others experiences. I was going to see if the CEL comes back, which I expect it to. If so, am I looking at a new PCM or could it be a loose wire, bad harness, or bad O2 sensor. Thoughts? Help! |
According to our shop manual P0610 is a "PCM Vehicle Options Error"
You might be looking at a new PCM, but if you're under warranty, let the dealer work on this. |
^What he said. There are several threads that discuss this topic, search for "P0610" and take a gander.
