CEL and CANbus

Good day all,

I recently purchased a used 6 speed MT '03 RX8, car was working almost perfectly for the first week or so. One day while driving conservatively the CEL light came on but found no loss of power whatsoever. in fact i found no problems atall while driving with the CEL light on. I had just put fuel in the car that same day when the light came on and read somewhere that a loose tank cover was a common problem with the car. I decided to check a technician about the problem, they used the scanning tool and the first 2 codes came up together are as follows:

P0704 - clutch switch input circuit
U0073 - can communication bus fault

After the technician cleared these 2 faults he checked for other faults on the system and everything kept coming up with a can communication bus fault but of a different code. He explained to me that the problem was a communication problem between the different devices in the car. After we switched off the car and put it back on the CEL came off and all was well again for another week.

The same problem occurred again last night during conservative driving. Can someone please assist in what can be causing this problem? A friend advised me to install a grounding kit but I don't know if that would help this situation

Try looking at those. I sounds like maybe the shop used a incompatible code reader.

the other canbus fault codes were not the same for the different problems, for example the second error code we found after that was C1093 - traction control disable switch with U1900 - can communication bus fault and a different canbus for every fault code afterwards

Thanks for the feedback though, any more would be greatly appreciated.
