car won't start after deflooding procedure

I installed and amp and sub last night and listened to it with the car off for about 30min. Tried to start a few minutes ago the car didn't start checked the battery it has 12.2 volts, so I tried the deflooding procedure still nothing. Any Ideas???

kdparsons80 03-23-2009 08:06 PM

Anybody got anything???

kdparsons80 03-23-2009 08:14 PM

Side note the car makes three beeps while trying to start. Dont know what that is.

Mazurfer 03-23-2009 08:31 PM

Which de-floeed procedure exactly and do you have someone that can give you a jump even though you have 12.2 volts? Just because you have 12volts or so, doesn't mean you got cranking amps left.

chrizknot 03-23-2009 08:35 PM

you dint flood ur engine if ur car was off, id say jump start it.
you flooded it if you turned it on and off right away.

kdparsons80 03-23-2009 08:47 PM

The reason I think it may be flooded is I can smell the premium after attempting to start. The battery is in good condition, even if it wasn't I have a charger starter, that's what let me know I had 12.2 Volts.

I used the foot in the floor for 10 seconds then trying without gas pedal.

chrizknot 03-23-2009 08:52 PM

well the amp is ganan suck power from ur battery if the car wasn't turned on. and since you just installed the amp and sub, then you had problems, there is a 99.9 & chance u didnt flood it.

when I made my first attempt it was powered. Then i disconnected the power wire. On sat i was working on the install, and started to go home and the power steering wasnt working. I unhooked everything except the high level inputs no result. When I got home I unhooked that then like magic no problem. So what the heck caused that to stop power steering, and or starting.

Check these three fuses - the beeps mean it won't start till the ECU is happy.

EGI COMP1
EGI COMP2
Engine

Checking now

All 3 fuses good. ????

Need more details:
All other systems appear to work fine?
Did you damage any wires in the wire bundle during installation of the positive wire from battery to amp? Drill through the firewall or use existing holes?
Did you disconnect the battery from the car during the install?

Stealth is right - the 3 beeps mean something isn't right in your electrics that only has to do with the engine. (implied from listening to the stereo the previous night)

The only thing I can say with any level of certainty is that its probably not flooded - Your not starting because of the electrics - thus, probably no spark.

Postt your DIY on how to deflood it. Remember copy paste is your friend :)

Well I am sharing a ground in the left side of the trunk. Does anyone know what that might be?

kdparsons80 03-24-2009 07:34 PM

okay everything is disconnected power, ground, high level inputs, remote. Still nothing it will crank but not fire. Need help trying to make Midwest Mazda Fest on the 18th.

kdparsons80 03-24-2009 07:39 PM

Sorry Vyn just read your post. I poked a hole through the very bottom of the firewall boot on the lower most circle. During the install I did have a problem with the power steering. Disconnected everything just like now and it worked. Disconnected the negative battery terminal during the whole process.

Vyndictive 03-25-2009 08:02 AM

Hmm, I'm sort of stumped on this one.

Since you smell fuel, lets assume you're fuel pump and delivery system still work fine. Did the 3 beeps go away or are they still hanging around? Pull the plug and confirm that they're sparking when you're starting.

Does the car start when you disconnect all the audio stuff completely?

Unless the PCM and power steering are on the same curcuit, I don't see how those problems would be related unless you some how damaged them in the install. Then again, it could be as simple as a loose wiring harness, but I don't think you're going to get off that easy.

. . . and I thought my install went bad... :uhh:

kdparsons80 03-25-2009 02:24 PM

The beeping stopped, but still will not start. I'm going to check every fuse next. Then I'll pull the plugs, I don't have my floor jack here or stands right now.

Yes... because you know it didn't start because it was flooded... power steering issues?

kdparsons80 03-27-2009 07:02 PM

No power steering issues yet took it for a short ride the other day. The weather hasn't been great here in Northern Indiana lately. The sub and amp are installed but I have to figure out a way to mount it so it won't shift on those s-curves.:)
