Car starts without clutch
Just noticed other day car was able to start without having the clutch depressed. I bought the car used and there was no history of the mods done to the car. but im just wondering if that will be a issue and i should change it back to stock or will it be ok to leave as is

Two possibilities:
1) The white plunger on the clutch interlock switch is stuck in. 2) The previous owner disconnected the switch and used a wire to jump the two contacts, leaving the circuit permanently closed. The switch is on the right side of the clutch pedal. Attachment 157898 |
yea he bridged the connector somewhere with a wire. theres a few red wires i can tell where added. reverse engineering someone else work is always fun. the more i fix the more i find. oh well least have most things working. now need to see if can find a manual a/c control unit for cheap or oem radio a/c unit complete.

Probably a simple jumper or spade connecter inserted into the starter-interlock switch's electrical connector. The interlock switch is of course a safety device precluding starting without depressing the clutch pedal. Remote starter installations often require this switch to be bypassed however.

yea i guess the previous owner might have tried a remote start thing. Eh when i bought the car main thing for me was that mechanically the car was good electrical i could trace with the right diagrams i have a html workshop manual but it will only help for the stock part.
first pic is of my switch in the second have a question about wat the wire hanging there electrical taped goes to(left side of picture?if i knew what system it went to could trace it on electrical diagrams. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...g/DIGI0023.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...g/DIGI0025.jpg |
