Car nearly Overheated, was told radiator fans turn off above a certain low speed?
 
Car nearly Overheated on freeway at 65-70mph with A/C on, was told radiator fans turn off above a certain low speed? I tried searching for some info on this but maybe I suck at searching.

Guy kept telling me to ask any tuner and they will tell me that the fans turn off above something like 10 MPH which seems strange but I wanted to verify it.
When checking the relays and the chart for when the fans turn on at what requisites, it says nothing about vehicle speed. Was told my fan problem was not why I nearly overheated on the freeway.

I used the heater to cool down the car so I could make it home. When I got home the after cooling fans didn't come on so I checked the 40 amp fuse and it was blown. Next day bypassed the relay to check the fan motors and the passenger side one wasn't spinning with relay 1, heard a clicking when I bypassed 3. I moved the blade and it's seemingly fine now when any combination of relays are bridged.

By my logic if the heater fans cooled the car down to where I could drive it back safely, then the radiator fans not working would be why I overheated. Fan gets stuck, increase resistance and blows fuse, then bam, I probably need new fans and that guy is wrong, right?

If you overheated at 70MPH it wasn't because of your fans. Check your coolant level (when cold) and do you have the wind tray under the front bumper/engine area? Did you hear any coolant bubbling when you turned off the engine? Were you reading the stock temperature gauge or do you have aftermarket hooked up?

I cannot remember the correct speed but in MazdaEdit I saw something like 10-15 MPH? It's pretty low.

Coolant level was fine and it still looks like normal level in the reservoir. Wind tray is there and secure, no gaps either. I don't recall hearing any bubbling. I was monitoring through the torque app. I also checked to see if it sprayed coolant anywhere and didn't see anything.

what exactly is “almost overheated”? The truth is that a healthy Renesis can handle a higher coolant temp event better than the previous rotaries, but if there’s corrosion or other issues going on then all bets are off.

Not turning the fans off can actually help cooling, but they turn them off to reduce alternator draw for that smidgen of fuel savings.

Temps got to 237,seen through the torque app, normal for me is around 200 when its over 100 outside with a/c on. Read awhile back that temps sustained over that lead to coolant seal failure. When I didn't see signs of it wanting to go back down, my heart sunk and turned on the heater lol. That lowered my temperature. I was on freeway with A/C on and was only going 65-70. So I figured something is wrong since the temp only climbs to 212 if I push the car hard but then the temps go back down pretty quickly. So I know something is off, but I only found the blown 40 amp fan fuse and the stuck fan that seemingly works now no problem.
