Can't make this thing Start!!
 

Sorry for the novel. Please help!
I have a 04 MT w/ about 95k.

I was driving a few weeks ago and completely lost the clutch, managed to get it in neutral and rolled to a safe place and towed to the local transmission shop. He was really overbooked so it took about 3 weeks for him to finally get to the car. He called me up and said he couldn't get the car started and asked me to come down and see if I could. Show up, battery is dead (at this point im hoping this was from the 3 weeks of miserably hot weather and not him cranking it over and over).

Charged battery and still couldnt get it started!

Went through deflood procedure, still nothing.

Took out plugs and cranked

Installed new plugs and coils (they didnt have any plug wires but I did test my current ones with a multimeter and they look good)

It would get so close to starting but not! Then I'd pull the plugs, clean them with carb cleaner, deflood and do it again:

I finally did get it started at one point! ... for about 90 seconds... There wasnt much smoking and the idle smoothed out very quickly. I got out after that 90 seconds with the biggest smile ready to put the tire back on.. then it died!

Now I'm even further away..

What should I try now?

Also, This car has no CAT. I've flooded it before and had luck with push starting it BUT..I have no clutch now!

is your clutch destroyed or is the pedal broke?

no, Im familiar with the clutch bracket problem, this is the clutch.

Are all the spark plug wires on the right spark plugs?
What exactly happened when the clutch failed?

people hate but unless you have an intake back fire its not that dangerous.
If you cant check fuel pressure with a gauge on the rail or thru data logging you can spray a little starting fluid into the intake while cranking to see if itll start. If you can keep it running with light sprays from the can its possible you have a weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or a bent line causing a blockage. Iv seen on another car a short to ground near the relay causing a slow pump making it feel like driving in limp mode. A weak pump might prime well but not be strong enough to keep the car running but it will explain why after so many key cycles it might run momentarily

Yeah the plugs wires are connected correctly to the coils/plugs.

I was driving, came up to a light, depressed the clutch, the clutch engaged for just a min and a noise happened and clutch was gone. I checked the master and slave, bleed the lines and had someone check it out, they were confident the clutch was out due to the noise it was making when trying to engage the clutch.

I'll try it and report back.

Yeah, I cranked while a buddy checked for spark. He confirmed they are sparking.

Got any ether (EasyStart)?

If it fires up with a shot of ether, you know you have good spark, if it dies after, you know the problem is in the fuel department.

You can hear 5 puffs and then nothing, again 5 puffs and nothing. You should hear the puffs continously when you have the plugs out.

One face of a rotor has lost compression completely, so it must be your sideseal that has blown to smithereens. Test the compression yourself. Put your thumb over the plughole and let someone start the engine. You will feel the rotor sucking on your thumb.
