[QUOTE=RotaryG87;4464333]Did you just replace an individual coil and plug or all at same time? How much was the midpipe? Thanks for the info, glad to know someone else has been through this!! When these cars run smooth they are amazing. I haven't owned mine long obviously but love the power.[/

Hi, sorry about the delay replying. I did all at once.
I think it best if you always eliminate any potential faults.

It's almost as easy to do all at once. Just makes sense.

Be sure to use OEM NGK laser iridium plugs, wires, and coils.
Pricey, but I wouldn't half-a** anything on this car, too temperamental.

Midpipe was $450 US new from BHR. Charles Hill is also very available with advice. Very helpful.
I would highly recommend it.

Never enough time (or money) to do it right the first time, but always plenty to do it over.

Just started car and took it for a spin. Started well the power was there no jerking! Engine management light still on though. Do you know how to reset it? I will still get someone to check fault code first and coils / cat! Ta

DON'T drive it unless you are going to get it scanned!
CEL is on for a reason.
You have a problem.
You don't know what the problem is.
You take it for a spin?
You can do irreversible damage to the engine.
Do you want to buy a new engine?
Did you read the posts of the thread you inserted yourself into?

I just thought if it had been sat a week it may have just misfired on start up. Seemed fine though. I don't want to buy a new engine! I will get it scanned.

Ok, the obd reader arrived today. I'm getting a P1688 code. The oil pump, right?

I bought this car on eBay and have checked the most recent two service stamps. They are both fake.. is that legal to sell a car without genuine service stamps?

Anyway.. back on topic. I'd like to fix this myself but can't find any guides on how to adjust the oil metering pump (or replace it). All I can find is that it's below the engine and requires the engine to be removed first?

Advice would be most welcome guys.

This is why we read codes first

Reference the following
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...-p1688-163019/
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tro...roblem-234241/

If that doesn't work you will need to replace the unit, easily over 1,000 bucks at Mazda. The alternative is a rebuild in your future if this goes unchecked

The blind are encouraging the ignorant on this one

Pay no mind to the SOHN adapter (aluminum block with nipple) in this pic, it is not stock.

Ah. Too bad I haven't got my own garage..

Going to try a local garage I know, hopefully they will be able to re-adjust it.

Thank you for your help!
