Bad noise from rear of the car
Hi, I have a 2005 AT. Last few months I replace the coils, plugs, and plug wires, also the engine coolant, tranny fluid and deferential oil. since then the car ran absolutely great!
Then I took a long vacation last month and left the car outside of my apartment(the only place I can park the car for that long). After four weeks I came back and the car started to make a rustle/ grinding noise. It's kinda like a squeaking noise or sometimes like a rubbing noise. The noise becomes especially obvious when I release the gas pedal, or switching from parking to reverse (or from R to N, N to D, etc.), or let the car run without pushing gas. Speeding does not seem to make it worse, but the noise happens no matter which gear I was using. It comes from under the rear seats or the trunk I cannot locate the exact place. At first I thought some drive will bring it back to normal, but now the noise comes worse and worse. Anyone has an idea where should I look at? Other than the noise everything else is fine, good millage, no power loss, etc. great thanks in advance! |
Sounds like it could be the u-joints in the drive shaft or something wrong with the differential or transmission. You need to get it checked out if you aren't able to do it yourself. It would be best to do it before something breaks and causes more problems as it fails

Could it be a wheel bearing? Do you hear the noise outside of the car?

I will check it next week. Hope the dealer won't empty my wallet this time.

First thing I thought of is rust built up on the rotors. It happens to my car as well as I pretty much only drive it on the weekends. It may go away in a few miles if so. It does for me.
