Bad gas or ground problem from gas pump? Now rough idle
Coming back from Zoom Zoom in NJ, I had the gas attendant (no self serve in NJ) fill up to the half tank I had already in the car.
I didn't shut the car off while he was refueling - which I often don't do. (is that bad?) Anyway, shortly after he started filling, my idle becomes strange. fluctuating and almost stalling out, even after I pulled away. Since then it's doesn;'t fluctuate , but seems rough. I haven't finished that tank of gas though. So, my question is could bad gas added to the existing 1/2 a tank affect it so quickly - like within a minute or two of the bad gas being added, or is it possible there was a ground fault issue with that gas pump, I.E a small current leak that affected my 8's electrical system. ANy thoughts? |
Turn your engine off before refueling.

Never run w/o the fuel cap. lucky you dont get a CEL.

Thanks for the response, and I'll be sure to be off when refueling, but since I have done it many times before- this is not the cause of the problem I experienced.
