Anyone else feel...paranoid?
I spend a good amount of time reading the boards while at work, and every time I read the "Issues & Problems" section I end up feeling thankful but really paranoid. :Eyecrazy:
My biggest concern is that I bought the car used and it's my first rotary, so I worry that I wont be able to spot what's "not normal". |

lol squirts...
Take for example the thread on "Transmission Issues/Questions". After reading that I started noticing a low swirly-ish noise, not to mention putting the car into first sometimes makes a "thunking" sound. |
The thunking is actually the linkage, I think it sounds cool. Roll you window shift to first, almost sounds like a bolt action rifle.

Agreed it does sound kinda nifty but wasn't sure if it was a normal thing. Idk, gonna take the car in for the 30k maint. and I'll see if they can flash me to "N" i believe is the current release. Hopefully they'll be on top of things and can tell me if something isn't kosher. |
according to quantum physics, if you think something wrong is going to happen then it probably will. positive thoughts my friend

Read the turbo forum every once in a while. I used to spend almost all o fmy time in here and ended up paranoid as well. Read about people with 290whp. People who track their cars. Most of the time they only have problems based on the esperiments they perform on their cars.

Get the TSB work completed and you will be OK. Just get out and rev it up in the powerband on a backroad to clean the HC's out. |
I know how you feel - take comfort in the fact that most people don't have problems . All cars will have a few issues but on a forum with 25000 odd members whatever problems anyone has are going to be reported.
|
Correct - all you hear are the problems. The majority have 0 issues. I'm at 45K and lovin it.

Technical Service Bulletin They keep these things gaurded at Mazda HQ and delearships. They don't like to tell you about them, cuz that just means more work for them with no money coming out of your pocket. |
vOC, TSB = Technical Service Bulletin. There is a list of them here:

I drove a series of worn out used cars for the past 6 years and *those* made me *really* paranoid. Ocassionaly I was indeed stranded or forced to pay for big repairs which were not at all covered by warrenty. Don't let the Issues and Problems section make you paranoid - let it make you informed and thus, empowered. Then, take a deep breath and repeat to yourself, "4-year, 50,000 mile warrenty, 4-year, 50,000 mile warrenty, 4-year, 50,000 mile warrenty, ......." ;) |
