Alarm issues........

hey guys,

I have an 04 GT... I don't think i have a shock sensor and I have the stock alarm. This thing keeps going off for no reason. The problem first happened when i got the car last spring. I took it into the dealer and they said they couldn't find a problem. At that time I just removed the horn and hazard fuses every time I parked the car outside so it wouldn't go off, or at least it wouldnt be able to do anything if it did get set off.

Over the summer and all this winter it stopped with all the fuses in place but now its happening again :banghead: is there a solution to this? or is there a fuse for the alarm itself that I can pull out for now, i cant seem to find one.... help guys!

Thanks,

Mike

Do you have any aftermarket wiring of any nature that you know of, such as footwell lights)? If you happen to tap into a wrong wire, this can actually cause an issue like this.

Also, you need to check both your hood and trunk for proper closure. These must be closed, so maybe it's possible you have a bad latch?

No aftermarket wiring, the thing is completely stock minus a K&N air filter. The trunk and hood seem to close completely although my trunk seems to go slightly below the the body panels on the rear window side. meaning the latch side could be pushed up a bit. Do you think it would be enough to be causing this?

The dealer installed the mazda spoiler.... maybe they screwed something up

Anything is possible. Maybe you/we can figure out a way to check that latch. One real quick way would be to see if the trunk light is on by closing the trunk and then going inside the car and looking through the passthrough to see if the trunk light is on, but since you haven't had any battery problems(that light will drain the battery pretty quickly), I doubt it will be on. Oh, and this in no way confirms that the rest of the latch is working as advertised. Might want to look at all the grounding points on the hood and the trunk to make sure that they are well grounded to the rest of the car, that could be an issue as well.
