airbag light went off randomly

So my airbag went off randomly while driving today on the highway... It flashed a few times for ~5-10 seconds and just went solid.

The standard procedure is to:

check fuses
check connector behind seats
check connector behind glovebox

1. I cant seem to find pictures of specific locations, does anybody know of any pictures they could post up?

2. I lowered my seat with 04Green's lower seat mod, will i be able to access this connector with the seat super low?

3. Can i access the connector behind the glovebox by going underneath it? i dont really want to remove the glovebox out of the car.

4. when i unplug these connectors and plug them back in, should this be done with the car off or on? does it matter?

5. If the car is on, will the airbag light go off as soon as i fix the connector? or will i need to reset or something?

Thanks.

before you just go randomly unplugging stuff, the light actually flashes the code, which you can then look in the FSM to see what it is.

i had the intermittent light, and i just assumed it was the connector on the back of the seat, which should be reachable still. so i did all kinds of things to the connector, with no luck!

then i read the code, and its for the seat position sensor, and that goes thru the other connector....

i haven't actually had to fix anything, mine has some connection between lowering the seat and the light, so i think pinched wire

the light did not come back on when i restarted the car :dunno:

any problem that fixes itself is a win in my book.

Btw, how does one read the code for the airbag light? What kind of code reader is needed to check something like that? i tried checking for any faults on torque (app) via obdII port and nothing came up (probably because it only checked for CEL's?)

oh nice, that's the best way.

you read the code by counting how many times the light flashes. you don't need a reader or anything Mazda made it easier than that.

the Mazda dealer computer can read the body/airbag/abs codes, but i think its the only one to be able to do that?
