ABS, Traction, and E-Brake light issues
Ok, so I've been having this recurring problem. The traction control light, ABS light, and parking brake light, all come on at the same time, usually after 10 to 15 minutes of driving, or a couple minutes if the car is already warmed up. I've brought it to the dealership three times, each time they thought they fixed it, each time it happened again.
The first diagnosis was that the power steering control module was bad, they wanted $1100 just for the part, so I found one at a salvage yard for $150 and put it in myself. Lights still came on, but when I brought it back to dealership they said that the car was showing a different code and that there no longer was a problem with the power steering module. They also said the checked the ABS sensors and they were fine. I've already spent $500 at the dealership and they can't seem to find the problem, I noticed a couple posts with similar problems but no resolutions. Anyone have any idea what is wrong and what my next course of action is? 2004 RX-8 6 Speed Bose, Nav, Leather, 18"s, 75k miles. |

read the whole thread.. and you just need to clean the connectors in most cases.. beers  |
Thanks, I'll try cleaning the connector under the airbox. My power steering has never failed on me though, do you still think this will solve the mysterious lights?

just a good guess.
rear brake pads changed? all tires the same size? lots of things it could be.. got the code? beer  |
Not sure if it helps. but i have aftermarket rims without tpms and only when i swap one tire that has tmps, the same lights go on. Abs, ebrake tcs, and a few other ones....
It might be one of ur tpms going bad and not giving signal Most likely tpms, try to get another fellow member and swap out wheels for a day and check if it is that.... let me know |
What cleaner do you use to clean the connecting rods?
Just wondering what the best solution is, I keep getting the abs, traction control and handbrake warning. Like MAF cleaner or just water...

yes its the same with me. new wheel on this week ,and the first time on a drive all the lights come on. |
Fixed
I figured out the cause and solution the day I sold it. The brake light switch connected to the pedal was sticking. Not every time, but on occasion, causing the brake lights not to work and the lights to come on.
|
I just experienced the same problem with the faulty switch. It decided not to light up the brake bulbs when braking, and this of course tripped the ABS and DSC lights.
Really stupid design to turn off those systems just because the brake lights are off, but anyway. I started to play around with the switch and pressed the white pin all the way in several times, figuring that the switch must be somehow sticking. By doing this, the actuator pin went a bit more inwards than before, but after that it turned the bulbs on and off fine. Trouble is, now the brake pedal could not reach the pin anymore when it was released, so the brake lights were constantly on :banghead: There was an about 2 mm gap between the pedal and the pin, but that was easily fixed with a little plastic bumper that is used on kitchen cabinet doors. Now the switch works OK again. We will see if it will stay that way :) |

Car abs traction control and ebrake light comes on after driving it for a while. But if I turn off the DSC then the lights won't come on. Any ideas?

check sensors.
if not sensors, check ABS Module |
This happened to me as soon as i changed one of my front tires. Got a flat and had to change it from a 225/45/r18 to a 225_40?r18 (and only ont tire so the other one is still 45). As i read in other threads, its the wheel speed sensor reading a different speed. At least that my issue. Also im probably a biit pver inflated so
