720 km with no oil cap

Haven't fueled up for about 3 weeks, halfway through my second tank, decided to check my oil level. Found my oil cap sitting on the intake manifold right next to the fill tube.

Is it possible for it to vibrate off if it is not tight, I remember putting the cap on my engine cover so I can't see myself forgetting to put it on after I changed my oil. No oil spray or nothing, I drive it pretty hard. Oil looks fine.

Should the car be fine?

I found a 6 year old thread with no real answers and i don't feel like bumping it. https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/ive-been-driving-without-oil-cap-52553/

Change your oil, you don't know what could have gotten in there.

To quote StealthTL from an old thread that is somewhat related... there might be "owls" in there. I'm just saying.. you never know.

Lol Thanks, I'll take some pictures if I find any owls in there. Filter should be fine I'm guessing?

When was the last time you changed your oil? I would change the filter as well because whatever bad stuff may have gotten in there could be clogging your filter up.

...and check the air filter as well to complete the job.

720 km on the new oil Haven't even got 2 tanks of gas on the new oil yet.

the filler neck has a vac line tapped into it so there is most certainly debris in the tank, whether it be dust or a nice fly lol
