6-Stacker won't play CD's anymore (CD IN, no error msg)
Hey guys,
I can't play cd's in my 6-stacker anymore (2004 model). I was driving the car, when l changed it from FM to CD and it just went blank, like the image below: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/7/4/1237648/CD2.jpg While the stereo is on, CD IN is constantly on, see in the pic below: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/7/4/1237648/CD1.jpg Does anyone know what CD IN stands for? Is it usually on?? l can't remember if it was before l had this problem :scratchhe I've searched the forum and the only "solution" l can find is to replace the whole unit. I'm not happy with this as the unit still works fine. |
I have the same problem. You can't even eject the CDs right?

I'm in the same boat...
I've had this happen before (usually after lengthy trips and the entire stereo area was ridiculously hot) and after the system had a chance to cool down, it worked again. It happened again, this time at the very end of a 14 hour straight road trip (the CD's felt like someone had microwaved them they were so hot) but after cooling down and resetting the stereo (unhooked battery for 30 mins) it still doesn't work. It will let me load/eject CD's but when trying to play, after making some noise for 10-15 seconds the word "CD" goes off and nothing. Mazda replaced my first 6-disc changer after it ate my CD's a couple years ago so this is my second one. Since I'm out of warranty now I guess it's time for new aftermarket in-dash DVD/receiver. I've heard talk of some guy selling these refurbished Mazda units for around $100 on ebay but that was a couple years ago I think. |
Good to know l'm not the only one!
I disconnected the battery for 12 hours and it unfortunately did nothing. I was thinking a cable could have come loose, or an internal fuse blew, but most cables have click harnesses and its unlikely the unit has a fuse. I'll try this when l get home too: On-Board Diagnostic (Audio) Turn the ignition to the ‘ACC’ or ‘ON’ position While pressing the ‘POWER’ button, simultaneously press the ‘AM’ button and the ‘TAPE/MD’ button for 2 seconds or more If several DTCs are in memory, they can display using the ‘SEEK’ button If no DTC is stored, no codes will be displayed To stop the on-board diagnostic test mode, turn the ignition switch to the 'LOCK' position Identify the device and supplier codes by referring to the LCD display. .1 09: ER20 __|_______|___________|_ Supplier..Device...........DTC Supplier Code: 1 = FMS audio 2 = Panasonic 3 = CLARION Device code: 00 = Cassette Deck 03 = CD player 05 = CD Changer (external) 06 = CD Changer (upper module) 07 = MD player 09 = Base Unit 10 = CD player system MP3 operation Memory Clearing Procedure 1. I have the RX8 original OEM 6cd ( BRAND NEW ) never installed for $200 shipped anywhere in 48 states and you dont even have to add the 3% paypal fee I'll cover that cost also in the $200 offer I'm making you, if you check at the Mazda dealer they'll charge you $400 even more .... if you buy that cheap EBAY version it'll last less than a year so you end up buying another one... PM me if you're still interested....
