2005 cloth to leather swap. NEED HELP!

I recently purchased leather interior from a guy who wrecked his Rx8 to replace into my rx8. Its the same year but heres the problem;

because i had cloth on the wire harness that comes up from the floor there are several more wires from the harness that i took from the wrecked car, obviously for the motor for the auto seat and the heaters on both seats.

I have the listed parts:

Seats (obviously)
wire harnesses from wrecked 05
switches for the heated seats
wires for the heated seat switches.

How do I re wire them to work ahhhh!!!

Will give a FREE stock radio or back seats if someone can successfully help me out!

shouldnt need to rewire anything because correct me if im wrong, but all of the wiring should be in place on every single rx8. touring or not

EastCoastRX8 11-16-2009 10:26 AM

dont have the touring have the base model. thats why i swapped for the leather.

mscamp02 11-16-2009 10:31 AM

grand touring was the ones that came with leather and in any case every model of the rx8 has the necessary wiring in place, all you need are the switches to plug up to all of the wiring.

Once again someone chime in and correct me if I am wrong on this because I'm not 100%.

They should be in the center passage between the shifter and the cupholders. You have to lift up the plastic cover. They are plugged into a plastic brakcket that keeps them from moving around in non leather cars.

However, Im not sure if they are only for Nav, nav and leather or leather connections. Its been a while since I was in there and do not remember how many connections there are.

heres where i cant wrap my head around. with cloth there is no motor on seat but with the leather there is so naturally that means there needs to be extra wires to power to motor? ill post pics of the harness from my car and the one i took out of the other car

EastCoastRX8 11-16-2009 11:14 AM

There are no extra mounted wires..

For example the wire harness on the ground in my car for the passaenger seat has 2 less wires then the one from the other car, that being a thick black wire and a thick red wire.

Now with the driver seat there are a good 3-5 extra wires.

Now my major problem is finding the sources for the wires that will come from the switch for the heaters... ahh!!! im so lsot and mazda wants $220.00 to do it.

EastCoastRX8 11-16-2009 12:07 PM

apparently the car is as base as it comes. it DID NOT come equiped with the pre wired leather seat plugs or the matching wire harness on the grond. I would need to do a complete re-wire. Any suggestions?

mscamp02 11-16-2009 12:50 PM

if that is actually the case I would find a friend who is handy with this sort of thing to help you wire in the seats or suck up and pay the 220

EastCoastRX8 11-16-2009 02:10 PM

sucking it up and paying the 220 would only work if it had the wire harness in it. they wont do it without that becasue in their eyes it is altering the car and they are not allowed to do that.

Well i figured it out had to wire it myself but i decided that the heater wasnt necceasry plus it was more wiring that i did not want to do

the good: the seats are in the power seat works and they look great.

the bad: no heat, oh well.

im having the same problem right now but my power seat is not working and im confused on the heated seats. any sugestions?

youll have to get a wiring diagram of the factory seat heater circuit. and wire it in the same fashion with a power source, fuse, im assuming a relay and a good ground. and youll have warm cheeks. good luck
