04 rx8 recalls and vib. at idle

Hi guys, new to the forum. New to the RX8 as well. Have done much research since buying my 04 a few weeks ago. I was at the dealer(same dealer i bought the car from) a week ago to get a new set of rubber they owed me and happen to ask about recalls. The service tech said there was one open recall which was a pcm flash and that they could do it in 20 minutes. Seems like they did not test anything, they flashed the pcm and I was gone. From what i've read, this recall involves some level of diagnosing/testing to insure a simple flash would be satisfactory, am I correct?

This car pulls hard 35-55k and seems to drop off up to redline, however i have had no starting issues even on the coldest days so far.

And finally, at idle i can feel surging vibrations almost on a rhythmic cycle. You can feel it in the drivers seat, not sure if im being a little sensitive or if the motor mounts are shot.

Anyways, thanks for any input.

So as a fellow owner of an 04, there are 4 other recalls listed with the NHTSA besides the reflash (bulletin 01-008/05): NHTSA: 05V317000 - ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; NHTSA: 05V325000 - FRONT CONTROL ARM, LOWER BALL JOINT; NHTSA: 04V075000 - MANUAL TRANSMISSION, HEAT INSULATOR; NHTSA: 04V074000 - AIR BAGS - FRONTAL. Recalls really aren't the only thing to be thinking about here. There are a slew of Mazda Technical Service Bulletins out there as well. Many fall within the original factory warranty period, and some fall within the extended engine or environmental systems warranty periods. Best single place I know of to go to for TSB's on the RX8 is: http://www.finishlineperformance.com....php?pageid=11.

Issues with loss of power at top end can be attributable to many things from a failing engine losing compression on down in severity. Hunting idle also can have many causes. Searches here and a little knowledge/experimentation will take you far :).
