$400 power steering problem
So the dealership (browning cerritos) is charging me $400 dollars to fix my power steering issue that everyone seems to be having. There's a bulletin out for this problem, but since I'm out of warranty, they are charging me for the parts and labor. Any one deal with this problem and was able to get it resolved without paying for the $400 out of warranty?
basically $100 for parts and $300 for labor. What crooks!! any help feedback suggestions or other dealerships i should check out would be much appreciated. Thanks RX8 community. |
what wrong with ur powersteering? have you tried cleaning out the connectors?
|
why not just take it elsewhere?
Order the part yourself and have a shop fix it. |
first things first jedi...i know a quick solution thats practically free
|
too busy to clean out the sensor myself. Seems like a real pain, and to be frank, too lazy on the weekends. I guess I'll order the part myself and get it done at a local shop unless someones willing to help me clean out my sensor and i'll buy you a cold 12 pack :)
Any reco's for shops around socal that would do this? btw. what's your quick solution thats practically free dozer? u willing to work for crack? haha jk (referring to ur icon) |
ill clean out the connectors for a 12pk...:yesnod: its happend to me and the solution was easy, my PS started working like dream in under 20 minutes
|
sounds like a good deal... i'll throw in a lunch too if you'd like. shoot me over an email at mikelee.1015@gmail.com and lets try to set something up. i really appreciate it :)

hmmm wanna do it tomorrow? im watching the lakers game today, shoot me a PM
my aim is xxdozer32 |
The part they are replacing is a sub-harness, you can either clean it like Dozer said or order it and swap it in under an hour yourself.
How many miles are you out of warranty? If you aren't that far out of warranty call MNAO and plead your case |
we're gonna try cleaning it out friday...if all else fails ^i suggest that
|
TSB does not equal a recall. Sucks you have to pay, but all it is a job aid for techs. It doesnt entitle consumers to free car repairs.
|
Dozer is the man! just came back from his place and his trick worked like a charm! Cleaning out the connecters really do work! saved me $400! (sorry for not helping clean but my gf was mad on my case)
|
dozer did it AGAIN !!!!!!
seriously, this problem is mad easy to do. take the airbox out and you will be able to unclip those sucker off, unplug the battery, take a chinese food take out plastic quart and soak that shit into electric cleaner solution for maybe 5 minutes. bam ! just like new :) |
I am having the same problem, my buddy looked at it and said he wasnt sure. Anyone willing to help a fellow 8 owner out?
|
you wanna see if this method works? your are MORE than welcome to come down to my house to have ur car worked on
|
i have faith that it will work. I just dont know what i am doing hahaha.
|
no worries, instead of paying hourly labor, you can pay in other ways ie, food and beer, um car parts for me :) (coils, plugs) etc etc, its A LOT cheaper than takin it in to the stealership
|
oh for sure, let me know what king of beer you drink and when your free and we'll see what we can work out.
|
im free all week after 4 :)
