+ year trannies to a 2004

So, finally got around to opening up my tranny. There is around $3000 worth of needed parts. Might as well get a used tranny.just to be sure, any year transmission will work right? Aka an 05/06 to replace the 04 tranny

If you have a manual transmission, any 2004-2008 will bolt in, no modifications. 2009-2011 manual transmissions will fit, however there is a slight wiring change you would need to make (stronger transmission, slightly different gear ratios)

If you have an automatic, then you will need a 2004-2005 automatic, as the automatic for 2006-2008 is a 6-speed, not a 4-speed. You could put in a 6-speed physically (I believe), but you would need to change the ECU too so it knows you have 6 gears, or it would never shift to 5th or 6th. If you change the ECU, then you have to get it re-coded to the car, etc... etc... and may have engine related issues since it is also expecting a 6-port engine. More trouble than it would be worth.

Perfect, exactly what I wanted to hear!

for $3000, you can buy a new one at the dealer, and have enough left over to have them install it

Yeah, but for 940 I can get one with 50K miles on it and for 300 more a lifetime warranty.

who's life? yours, theirs, or the transmissions?

The guy that was helping me said - If anything goes wrong with the transmission or doesn't start to feel right, you can bring it back and we'll order you a different one... No questions asked. Just depends on if we can get our hands on another one.

Going to get more info about it tomorrow when I go to order the tranny... Seemed a bit too good to be true, but can't argue the $940 price tag.

its a dumb question, but its actually worth asking, as the customer assumes its their lifetime, but often its not.
