Worth upgrading the SSV?

Hi
I have a 2008 231, when below 3k rpm and quite often when cold I get a rattling sound from the engine when underload, ie pulling off and gentle accelerating. Sounds like the old MIAC sound?

Has anyone fitted the revised ssv? Has it cured the rattling noises? I am pretty sure it is the ssv?

Thanks

Antony

Well if the noise is the actuator arm on the SSV then installing a new one will surely eliminate the noise. I replaced mine with a used pre upgrade one and after a year it started the rattle again as well.

The revised one should be a winner . Any one priced one ?

Hi
Thanks for the replies, my ssv doesn't have the rattle at idle just under load and when accelerating, is this consistent with others are getting? I have often wondered if it is doing anything negative for performance? For example the knock sensor may pick up the vibration and retard the ignition?

Thanks

Antony
