worried 8 driver!
So heres my dillema.. everyday monday to friday, i would drive to work from rancho cucamonga to long beach i'd say 55 minutes drive. back and fourth depending if theres traffic but usually i only hit traffic in the morning on 605. anyways my question is.. is it bad for my rx8 to drive that far everyday? what kind of maintenance should i be more concern when my situation is like that? any tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks! :scared:

Just drive the car. And keep up with the maintenance. I would also do a search about premix.

hey Chester, Dozer hit it right on the head with his recommendations.
with this car, just make sure you're checking the oil often (every other time you fill up) because it does burn oil as part of its design. also, I'd add a coolant flush every year or every other year at the most. :) |
^ i add coolant every oil change...:scratchhe
|
zumn: why?
you shouldn't be burning up that much coolant. |
lol ok thanks for the help guys!
|
JEDI... I just happen to top off all my fluids when I do oil changes....its way hotter out here (during summer) in the desert than in the OC :(....very little is needed... and sometimes none... just plugging in for the OP to check all his FLUIDS...:) I think i need a RADIATOR FLUSH SOON ...now its getting chilly so now worries...

Chester, driving that many highway miles a day is good for your car. That's the kind of use where Schedule 1 maintenance could apply. Your clutch and brakes will last many miles because the miles per start/stop will be higher than a car driven for short trips.
The only downside is that you'll reach high mileage sooner than if you had a shorter commute. But your car should last more than the average number of miles. Ken |

Same boat - 50 miles to work and another 50 back, 120k miles on my rx8 now and 80% of that was just for work. Not once have I babied it, I drive it at 4k rpms consistently and usually down gear it for a quick redline when their's no traffic around. Just be sure to check your oil levels at least once a week and add as much needed to retain it at full. |

Ken is correct and you will enjoy your rotary more then most. How many miles do you get on your plugs?
|
If you can afford the gas, it is completely okay
