The white goo in oil fix
 

So, most of you probably know, there is a little tube that you can have a dealership inserted into the oil to keep the goo off the dipstick. (Or maybe you don't know, I'm guilty of not searching).

Well, I went to my dealership to get it installed (they said it would take about 5 minutes) and they couldn't find the tube. No big deal.

Well, the guy calls me today and says they couldn't find the tube because Mazda changed the part. It's some other installation (didn't explain it to me), that actually goes into the oil and keeps the goop from forming altogether. The service manager said they didn't even know about the change, they had been using the little tube inserts. Said it will take about 2 and a half hours.

My questions/concerns:

1. Anyone else have this done?


2. What the hell is it? (The mgr. didn't explain to me)


3. If they didn't even know about the switch, that means my car will be the first that dealership tries out the new part on. I don't think I want my car to be their guinea pig. Should I wait a few months and then do it?

we can conclude with all the changes going on online these days it may explain their confusion.

according to your description, my conclusion is they'll install the internet in your oil system, since it's a series of tubes, and then not, but is again!

in other words, I have absolutely no clue, but had an opportunity to make a dumb joke. ^_^

The Technical Service Bulletin for this was recently changed (nov 21), . The new procedure sure is a lot more involved than the original!

I wouldn't let those guys experiment on your car for such an non-issue as this.
Three winters of goo & 81,000 miles later the " goo " on the dipstick does nothing to your car.

exactly.... just wipe the goo off and be done with it
