Whats going on here

okay i was driving and my car shut off...at first the ignition fuse was blown and i replaced it and all lights came on and the car would turn but not turn on...
i have 04 mt rx8 48k miles

Is it cranking at all?

Is the battery charged?

Are the battery connections loose?

VS8 01-04-2009 09:40 PM

its cranking
battery is charged i believe and the connections arent loose

Do you have a lot of things wired to the Ign fuse............gauges etc?

May have overloaded it....as for the not starting...check stuff like Staticlag said.... check to see if something came loose and is shorted...doess the new fuse blow again?

Look for another blown fuse or relay:)

VS8 01-04-2009 09:43 PM

no it doesnt blow the fuse and the only thing wired is a ignition button because i have had relay problems

Check the fusebox under the hood, if you had a short it may have taken out other fuses in there also.

Have you done anything to it recently? Plug changes? other modifications?

VS8 01-04-2009 09:47 PM

spark plugs and ignition coils were replaced recently

At this point I'm thinking that a few of the plug wires have fallen off.

dannobre 01-04-2009 10:02 PM

Stock ignition?

yes i have stock ignition

Did you check the ignition button that you wired in...that would be my guess....it shorted..blew the fuse...and now the switch has failed and won't work ??

VS8 01-04-2009 10:37 PM

the switch makes the car turn and it is wired fine

04RX8man 01-05-2009 07:16 PM

I also say check the plug wires good possibility they came loos i know the ones on my front rotor are never really snapped in good compared to the rear rotor!

VS8 01-06-2009 11:00 PM

ok turns out it was a fuse after all but this time it is multiple fuses...why do they keep going out is it a short?

dannobre 01-06-2009 11:13 PM

Logic states that you start looking where you modified it.......

greg985 01-06-2009 11:15 PM

what fuses went out?

VS8 01-06-2009 11:18 PM

...well it happened be4 i modded it but it was once
fuel pump and ignition
starter relay was acting screwy too

04RX8man 01-07-2009 08:37 PM

well blowing a fuse is a short or drawing more amperage through a circuit than allowable ...for example wiring 2 HUGE foglights inthe same circuit as ur headlights...The fuse for your headlight is say 10A that means at 10A the fuse blows your headlights use 8A so thats roughly 2A leeway....ur Fogs take 5A of current draw....8+5=13A 13A>10A=Blown fuse....so if you wired extra things on that circuit then most likely causing more amperage to b drawn.......

EXTRA INFO: that example would b for a series circuit not paralllel which headlights would b wired in but just explains how electrical circuits work somewhat!

I'm with Charles, eliminate the button for a while and see if it happens again.

VS8 01-10-2009 05:33 PM

i had this problem be4 the button i had to hook wire to old relay switch
