what rpm does your car idle at once warmed up
 

I just currious what normal is. My co-worker has a red '8 and he says his idle just above 1k. Mine is at 750 +/-.

what is normal? :confused:

at a cold start, mine idles at 2,000 rpm. when it's fully warmed up, it sits around 850-950.

a little over 2k at first, then slowly works its way down to 800

practically exactly 750 everytime.

750-800 depending on if A/C is on or not.

If some cars idle (after being warm) in the 1000's yet some people idle at 750-900...I wonder if, cause it would make kinda sense...if the cars in the 1000's waste more gas? Especially since some are reporting 750 vs 1,100...a significant diff in my opinion....hmmmm???

^something's wrong with 8's that idle at 1000 AFTER fully warmed up.

What does the mana...ma, m....GOSH I can't spell, what does the Mazda provided RX8 book (LOL!!!!!) say the idle should be?

When I start the car it's around 2K. Then it settles down to about 1.25K. Then it always revs back up to 1.5K by itself, then settles back down to 1.25K. Then I drive it. Once the engine's warmed up the idle is below 1K. Not sure exactly where it is though but 750-900 sounds about right.

I think the tech manual states 650 to 750 as normal but mind ocassionally dips to 500. Oh, mind idles around 6xx at this rpm my car shakes more than it should. Don't know if my has a problem. Took it to the dealer twice and tech said car idling fine.

There's something odd about the first poll choice, >500. Doesn't that value encompass the rest of the choices?

No really, my idle seems to be between 1 and 2.

Actually it's just a hair below 1 grand. about 950'ish.

mine idles just above the 1k line. although i have an auto.

maybe rx8wannahave is on to something? i get 13-14s mpg from this.

Sometimes 1 grand, sometimes 1,5 grand. Kinda wierd.....

My auto8 is idling at 750ish after warmed up.....and the car shakes like nobody's biz when I stop at the lights. I dun think this is normal....

warming up, its likes to hug around 2k and when it warms up its always just right above the 1k mark. the idea of idleing at 500 kinda blows my mind... wouldnt it be almost dieing? lol

just checked again, once fully warmed up, like half way between the c and normal my car idles down to 750. i was watching it this morning, very nice. :p

the rx-8 book supplied by mazda (manuel:p)says the normal idle (at normal engine temp) is 750-800 rpm. Once warmed up you rcar should not be at the 1k or above level.

Would ildling higher than 1 grand hurt the motor????? :confused:

A bit above 750, maybe 800 - 850.
