what oil is in the car when you buy it?
anyone know what Mazda uses?
Probably what they supply to the dealerships that use Mazda rotary oil (5W-20, a semi-synthetic blend, I believe).
I 'm wondering who makes the 'mazda' oil?
its a 5w20, im not sure who makes it, is it the shell helix?
all it says on the bottle is 'distributed by mazda' , and is it really semisynthetic? I 'll keep buying it at the dealer, may as well stick with it i'd guess.
In the 6's, its motorcraft 5w-20 semi-syn. Its really hard to identify inital oils, as all the engine lubes mix in and screw up the chemical analysis.
whatever the Hiroshima plant gets when they built the motor.... Idemitsu?
zoomzoomH and crossbow seem to disagree......
not disagreeing at all, as a matter of fact we sort of agree, that they fill the engine with whatever oil is available at the local plant :D:
US Mazda6 = built in US = Motorcraft oil US RX-8 = built in Japan = Japanese brand oil |
Ok so maybe I'm misunderstanding some posts so can someone clarify?
Are you asking what oil Mazda uses when they roll an 8 off the assembly line? OR Are you asking what oil the dealership uses where you purchased your 8? |
what oil is in it rolling off the assembly line.....

OK Thanks! I think it was the title of the thread, then the responses that had me confuzzled. :) |
I hope it WAS NOT the same oil from the factory.
My car had just over 40 miles on it when I bought it new, at the end of September (this year), and it was built 14 months earlier. |
^most likely it IS factory oil sitting in the engine for 14 months.... that's why you change the oil asap!!!
That was condition of purchase when I bought mine. Even though it was an '05 and hadn't been on the lot long, I demanded fresh oil and a full tank of gas before I signed the papers. :)
