bout halfway down page
i know this won;t change peopels minds just letting you know to be weary don;t want anyone to get hurt or possibly killed it can be very dangerous http://www.reganracing.com/Driver's20Edge20003-crop.jpg |
ive always just painted wheels if I wanted them a differnt color, if you sand, primer, paint, seal it properly it wont flake/chip/peel/crack.

Wow, thanks for posting this. I have been trying to find a powdercoating shop around town for months to coat the rims. Glad I didn't.
|
Non-coated rims have also had failures like this, how do you know the coating was to blame or if the wheel had an issue before the coating? If this was such a dangerous thing to do you think there would be threads like the evo one all over the net, there isn’t.

I don't know about the baking, but I do know that the method of paint removal can be a factor. Stripping or degreasing in a hot-tank can cause damage to the metal and lead to embrittlement of the surface which can initiate cracks.

yeah well this was on a stock corvette wheel it broke while at speed on a track, there are a few diff posts on the evo board about different people it has happened to i'm just giving it as a warning i don;t wanna see anyone risk getting hurt i'm sure more can be brought up about this i can look later if you would like me to? just lemme know check out www.evolutionm.net and search for it there are even a set a kinesis wheels that failed
