True or False?
Ive heard that theese engines have some great power. But unfortunately the engines power is 'tuned down' to be more eco friendly? Is this true? How may it be 'tuned down' to be more eco friendly?( Computer, rev limiter, ect?) Is it possible to bypass these settings?

You pick up around 20-30 horses. The computer needs to be remapped and the intake & exhaust changed a bit.
|
You can get those 20 oinies back withthe HYMEE unit.

Or you can install a Electronic Supercharger

There's been some positive reviews, but there is an ignition system replacement which is suppose to roughly net 20-30hp, but that's really it unless you go FI. So no, unlike the RB25/26 motors from Nissan, or the 2JZ motor from Toyota from the respectable performance car lineup. The Renesis was designed to run as efficient as possible, and was not detuned for comfort. Best of luck! |
one word.. turbo.. or maybe 2 words...supercharger.. LOL.. ohy dont forget the 5hp decal stickers... the more you get the faster it is...per-letter=5hp.

Mazda released the current Renesis near the peak of it's potential. Exhaust, intake & hi-flow cat would net only an additional 10hp roughly... with exhaust costing around 500-700, and a quality intake 250.00 It's hard to justify the expense for performance.

Mazda designed this engine with *eco friendly* in mind, well, I should say that, this is the *only way* to keep Rotary engine alive.
Rotary has its strength and weakness. |
Yeah i wish Mazda would whip out the knife in the oil industries back and make the Hydrogen system standard on all the Rotarys going forward.
Pro's 1. CAFE Crushed: Getting an additional 80-120miles with the hydrogen tank + current tank would make mpg into the 28-30 mpg total. Also it would provide a viable need of hydrogen stations integrated with gas stations. 2. Really mess with the CARB, being the hydrogen byproduct is water right? 3. Give Ford a shit fit on weather they next Ford 500 and related family/compact cars should integrate a rotary! 3.5 Another reason to get a rotary.... Con's: 1. Reviews of the vehicle with said 'feature' will bash it for the Company not anticipating fuel cell support. 2. Cost for a feature that will 99.00 not be used for the next 4-5 years... :) |
