Told I need a new PCM
I tried looking in the library but couldn't find the answer. I Just got a call today from the dealer that they check engine cannot be fixed without replaceing PCM. I have a 2004 (Original owner) with 62K miles all stock. Has anyone gotten it replaced and know why they fail? More importantly I noticed people talking about 2009+ generation Rx-8 are different. Will the new computer be of this type and more importantly have they remedied the problem so in another 60K it wont happen again. Thanks.

shop around for a used one. THEY ARE NOT VIN SPECIFIC

Well the good news was the dealer told me it was covered under the emmisions warranty! :-) I was just curious if the new one is an update late model one or specific to '09 or earlier cars. I intend to keep this a long time so I'm trying to be prepared for the future. Also wouldn't a used one be suseptiple to the same problem? I know a LOT of questions.

09 or Series 2 PCM's do not fit 2004-2008...period.
BTW they are ALSO VIN Specific. |
