Tire Pressure Light Wont Go Off (Help)

So I got a flat a couple weeks ago and had to use the mazda fix a flat in a can. Now ive had the tire replaced and have checked the pressure but the damn TPMS light wont go off, sometimes after driving 30 mins - an hour it will go off but even on a four hour drive it continuously comes on and off throughout the trip, i havent once started my car in the morning since the flat and didnt have the light on, any advice would be appreciated!

When they replaced the tire, did they damage the TPMS system? That's the only thing I can think of, seeing as you haven't changed any of the rims etc.

Could also be the gunk that you shoot inside the tire to fix the flat screwed up the pressure sensor inside the tire.

First, check all of the tire pressures with an accurate tire guage. With temperatures dropping it is very easy to lose several pounds of pressure in a cold tire.

Then go back to where you bought the tire and make them thoroughly clean the inside of the wheel and the sensor for you. Also check the battery in the sensor. If that doesn't work, they owe you a sensor. They are not cheap.

you may have to teach the car to recognize the sensor again.

Perhaps the goop you put into the flat tire got into the TPMS sensor? Did they replace the sensor?

To register the TPMS sensors follow the instructions on page 5-27 of your owners manual. This may not be your problem but it's worth trying.

Also, the manual says the following about using the wheel after using the tire repair kit: "The wheel can be reused after any sealant adhering to it is wiped off and carefully inspected. However, replace the tire valve with a new one."

Not sure if that means replace the TPMS unit. I could be wrong, but as I understand it, the tire valve and TPMS are a single unit. So if they didn't replace the "tire valve" maybe the TPMS orifice is clogged by the sealant. Keep in mind that the TPMS sensors are around $100/each. :Freak_ani

^ replace the valve cause the fix-a-flat goop can clog it.

My guess is when the goop damaged the TPMS when it was being put in the tire OR when the tire was rolling.

Did a dealer take care of the flat tire or was it a tire place?

If that is the case the spare tire kit is looking like it is not a bad option even though it takes up so much space.

I had flat tire once same as you and also had my tire re-patched by special tire shop, anyway make story short: the problem occurred few weeks after tire is fixed, the TPMS sensor light just keeps coming on after few miles of driving. It actually took me two trips to the dealer and finally got it resolved. The first time technician could not find any problem with tires or any possible reason that is causing the light to go on, so they told me they reset it and it should be ok. However, that did not do it so I had to bring in next day and leave my car there for a day for them to do testing on each TPMS sensor individually. The result is one of the TMPS sensor was malfunction. The Dealer end up replace the sensor at no cost since it’s under warranty.

mine came from the dealer that way, it was that way when I test drove it so they never fixed it, I noted it on my customer experience feedback in case they ever try to hit me with a repair charge whenever it happens to go into the dealership shop for the first time

my light has been flashing since I got my car last year. The dealer says nothing they can do !!! Trust me it drives me nuts also.

And you accepted that BS?

Does the TPMS light flash continuously? If so, find another dealer before your warranty runs out. If it only lights intermittently, check your tire pressure cold with a good gauge.

indeed..."find another dealer before your warranty runs out"......i actually tried two dealers....and finally one of them found the problem. Tustin Mazda

I dont carry the fix-a-flat kit, and I dont have the spare tire....I just have AAA, same thing with my miata and no spare, if I get a flat, they come out and patch it, and cover any damage to the wheel, tire or car from the flat when I drive it to a shop. Pretty nice, sure I have to wait on the side of the road for 2 hrs. but I dont mind. I usualy just get them to tow it to a tire place on a flat bet. no cost to me. I guess if I were out of town, in the middle of nowhere it would suck, but I always bring the kit or a can of fix a flat on road trips, 4 actualy...cause you never know...
