possible engine failure??? HELP!

so iwas have been experiencing some problems with my car, mainly the CEL keeps flashing on and off.. oh and when i am on the throttle i can feel a significant power drop while im driving.. like how you would feel a kick, then out of no where you feel nothing and then it kicks back in.
so here is some specs on the car, mostly stock. got teh k&n typhoon 2, and a rb racing duct.
now either its readin too much air, then way too much fuel(cause this problem only stirred up after i put the air duct on) or i am on the verge of needing a new engine. i have about 80000 on my engine and i live in the mountains so of course its driven hard.. oh and i no longer have a rev limiter in the car? kinda weird
so some top notch advice would be well appreciated before i goto the dealership and get the thumb up the butt.

thanks again.

if the problem started when you put on the intake, how about taking it off and see if it goes away? did you reset your ECU after putting on the intake?

what makes you think you have no limiter?

well i i think i will take the air duct off, and the no limiter, well cause i used to alway hit that thing when i show off, but now i tried twice, and it seemed highly stressed to attempt it and it went to 10 without a bounce back...

ive had the intake on for well over a year now, and its never cause any problems. just since i put the new air duct on its seemed to just throw everything out of whack. seriously the engine can go from a nice deep crisp noise that its supposed to make, to this insane quazi muscle car tone that shows no real purpose.
i assume by reset the ecu you mean disconnect the battery, which was done for well over two days just got back from hin, rule and regulations stated no battery hook up. if i can i will check out my plugs.. they just look real hard to get at.

So you're saying that there is loss of engine power now or just minor loss.?
1.- Are you driving in the "Limp Mode"?- If you are then there is a big problem, possibly losing compression in one of the rotor housing which means you need a new motor.

2.-Hows your idle? major fluctuation? and does your car stall out when you turn it on?[ Do not flood the motor also from constant start up...] If it is then, DO NOT try to keep turning it on and try not to use your car if it is possible... because that is definitley the sign of a rotary shooting down to the ground.

3.- DO YOU STILL HAVE WARRANTY ON THE MOTOR????? 80k miles... hmmm, unless its still in regards of the new 100k mile warranty plan? hmm.....
and TAKE OFF ALL YOUR MODS BEFORE GOING. LOL FOR HASSLE FREE SERVICE!!! TRUST ME..

ohh wow hahah hmmmmm change them plugs man.. i changed mine after i was noticing whiole i was driving (not full throttle) but when i began to apply some throttle the car the car seems to lose power and then it would go hah kinda like punching it while the engine was cold it would accelerate than it just go flat.. yep changed them out and now shes runs perfect 5K miles later she still runnign perfect I have 43K miles on her. change your tranny oil to redline 75-90 and your differential fluid witht he same gear oil.. mine after 40K miles looked liek MUD!!! this fluid changed gave me more of a throttle response and I felt MUCH more power than my cold air intake gave me =]

Ohh btw there were a lot of metal shavings

ok, so i pretty much have no clue what an e-shaft is... or where to find it. haha

i still run witht the cat, me i like quite when i drive, and plus if my car was any louder then i would get way more tickets than i already do.. dont need that. but i have damaged cats before i still have one sitting in my garage.

i changed my tranny fluid and stuff probably at around 40 or 50 should that still be good? and i remember when i ahd it done the rear end felt very very rough... dummies at the place probably didnt do it right.

im sure im not in full limp mode, but it does seem to be not having w\quite the ballsey feeling it used to... it really struggled to go over 6k this morning... in any gear. the idle is fine, now.. it used to be kinda high running about 1000-1100.. now its about 800. but i cant go into neutral at high speeds that shoots the dile from 400- nearly 2000... damn air duct. and im pretty sure i have the 100k on my insurance... just hate taking it to the dealer.. my mom made quite the impact on them... i think they have a picture of her on the wall that states "IF YOU SEE THIS WOMAN, RUN!!!"

and so sometime in the very near future i am off to purchasing new plugs... hope that is the major problem.. but what size do i need.. i read in the manual and well its like readin arab to me... haha. was never the best auto shop student... i got told to go paint things and not work on engines, ever. haha.

check that the vacuum port is still plugged. you should have a cap on it from removing the vfad to install the intake /duct.

that that lil hose thing... not plugged... is that bad? cause i didnt know i was supposed to plug it..
and seriously has anyone had problem with their air duct, i mean cause for some reason my car will seriously have a big change in engine noise. it goes from (dare i say) ricer to hot rod type of notes. its kinda weird. and i didnt think that an airduct would make a noise difference.

VFAD has noise filtering measures build in, so when u take it out, u will get more *noise ... * I mean louder than b4.

For the little hose thing, Take the whole thing out, unplug the wire to the solenoid, and put a little plastic cap to the nipple by the intake manifold

ok so the reason why i have been hearing the insane 1.3 v8 monster noise is because of that lil tube being exposed? crazy...
guess i gotta do some trail work and see where that tube leads to and plug a mystery hole... sounds simple enough. stupid racing beat coulda said something about that.
oh, has anyone else experienced entire car shut off when going into neutral at speeds above 55? i say this because well i sure have and driving through the mountains that was my gas saving trick.. now i cant do it.
