is there a DIY for the MS Side Skirts?
 

I know there are pdf's provided by Rosenthal Mazda, just wondering if any of you bodyshop guys has another, easier way to get sideskirts onto the mazda. The pdf's seem to be quite a bit complicated for a novice DIY'er.

I've installed the sideskirts just from using the directions... just follow it step by step and take your time and it will go relatively easy and painless

Oh DIY for installation.... I thought....

Never mind. I was thinking of the more complicated DIY project - the making of MS bodykit ;)

If anyone figure out a cheap DIY making of MS kit --- P/M the world please

prober: I received, what I believed to be, an authentic MS side skirts. I don't think they fit as easily as the instructions as the instructions had pointed out. Is there a difference in skirts from the U.S. MS skirts or the Japanese ones? It seems the skirt well, the holes for the screws, on the front and rear skirt doesn't seem to align properly.

One example is the rear end of the skirt, the two screw holes are located too far away from the wall of the skirt. The result skirt sits too far away from the side of the car ... even the tape won't hold that kind of distance.

Another issue, what's the speed clip for the front for? It doesn't seem to do much? doesit hold the front end of the skirt? there's isn't an predrilled holes.

I got mine from Rosenthal as well. Honestly I was never able to get the sideskirts to seal properly against the whole body either- its damn close though.

The front and rear screws really don't too much - IMO they are there basically just to let you line things up. The majority of the support comes from the brackets underneath and the clips that go into the side of the car.

I believe the key to getting the sideskirts to sit flush against the side is finding the proper place to drill the holes under the car for the brackets... unfortunetly they don't give you a template for that! However, the brackets do have some adjustability I believe - there is a bolt that fastens the bracket to the sideskirt, and the instructions say that this is actually slotted. So if you loosen those bolts up and have someone pull the bottom of the skirts away from the car, and then tighten the brackets up it should pinch the top of the skirts against the car more. I've been meaning to do this but just haven't found the time.

I ended up throwing out the instructions and all its plastic parts out the door :)

I also didn't use the upper button clips for support, rather, I ended up using some of that cocking glue (major bonding stuff) under the tape line along w/ the 3M tape. The rear bolt, well, I made two new holes, upper and lower support. The botton, where the metal L brackets are, I drilled a new set of metal screws right into that panel.

Man, that skirt was a major pain but the pain and agony is over. BTW, w/ the MS bumper, did you get rid of a couple of items that blocked the installatino of the bumper? I had to, I removed the foam pad and the thing right on top of that, its like a black piece of plastic that blocks the inlet piping and some other thing. I have tne pieces, just w/out those pieces installed, the MS bumper fits like a champ.

I just fixed my MS side skirts yesterday. I just followed the instruction and taken time (2 hours per side). I had no problem and the side skirts are well fitted.
BTW, I ordered them from Rosenthal and my RX8 is an european version (of course!), but it seems to have exactely the same dimension as Japan one.

...well that should secure the sideskirts pretty good!

I didn't get the MS front bumper... i went for the appearance package pieces for the front and rear.
