you can't. why are you trying to do that anyways?

pledpled12 09-25-2010 10:05 PM

i wanna spray tint the covers
i cant get that wire off

just tape them up if you're worried about it. they don't come off and you cannot remove the lenses anyways without a lot of work.

I would suggest using a precut layover film, like a window tint but thicker. However, if you're dead set on removing them, here's the DIY:

depending on the experience level of the installer of that film, you may not end up with the results you want on the back lights. the compound curves make it difficult to install.

QFT. Getting it done by a pro tinter should yield positive results. Me personally, I would have to buy two kits, cause I know I'd screw it up the first time. :D:

i have tint film i got from rotaryfx.com
i took it to a local shop and they were gonna charge $147!!
so i sold my tints to a friend with an rx8 who was willing to spend that much on his car.
I went to Advanced Auto Parts and purchased VHT nightshades tinting spray and saw many videos on youtube of people tinting their taillights.
I made $10 dollars more than i paid for, for the tints from my friend, i bought one can of the tinting spray for $12.99, $9 micro fiber pads, and some magueirs ultimate compund ($14). I had some 2000 grit sand paper in my garage along with a few other things i need for the process.
So i made $10 off the film and spent $36 on materials, but since i made $10 lets say i spent $26
In all i spent $26 instead of $147
i think it was a smart decision

Yeah, but you ain't done yet....and we don't know the results.
Time is money, we shall see.

Good luck!

I went ahead and purchased the light smoke kit from DecalFX, with the squeege and the adheasive stuff.

Mazda RX-8 2004 - 2007 Tail Light Tint
Tail Light Shade: Light Smoke
Squeegee: Yes
Application Fluid: Rapid Prep Rapid Tac and Rapid Clear
Film Type: Tint
$7 for shipping seems a bit high, total $54.96

Will post up a product review when I get home to put it on. ;)

The tint is overall better then spray, you just have to take your time... as in for our rears possibly 1-2 hours per light. Patience pays
