Repairing damaged BHR midpipe

I picked up some damaged goods from someone locally who sold their 8. For $200 I got an authentic MS front bumper and a BHR midpipe both in very rough condition. I've never done any exhaust work before but I'm hoping I can get this BHR pipe to work.

The previous owner had chopped off the end that connects to the header, and brutally welded on a Vband adapter. He also made a hole for exhaust gas temp, and thent tried to seal it up.

I'm wondering from anyone with custom exhaust or fabrication experience, how difficult would it be for someone to chop this damaged end off, weld in a new 3" pipe and (probably the difficult part) fashion a connector to the stock header? I'd like the ability to put the cat back in if needed.

wow, that’s totally fubar

any exhaust shop can fix it for you, but if you intend to use it with the OE type manifold connection you may need to find one first and take it with you along with a new gasket. They can also install the cat, but a factory cat converter is going to be a smaller diameter, either 62mm or 65mm maybe.

It’s 3” OD 16 Ga. stainless steel if I recall, so you might make sure they do stainless work. More likely to offer custom or high performance type exhaust work than the standard exhaust shop if such a place exists near where you are.
